There is no such thing called as “Risk”

In life, I would say, there is no such thing as risk.

Only “Risk-appetite“.

It’s about how much you can take on and when.

When I take risks, I often ask myself 2 things.

  • The opportunity cost:- What am I losing here, if I don’t take this action?
  • Upsides vs Downsides:- If the downsides are limited, but the upside has no limits, it’s imminent that you should take that risk.

That is also one of the reasons to leave your job, of course, unless you have major obligations and lots of liability under your hood.

It will be difficult, but yet not impossible.

Leaving your job comes with unlimited potential upside, with minimal downside.

So whenever you are stuck or afraid to take big risks, try to think about what am I losing here.

If the upside outweighs the downsides, you should take that risk.

When was the last time you thought about taking the risk?
