For those who don’t know, RaaP is Research as a Product Business Model.
It’s this:
- Curate or gather important data in your niche.
- Make it even more valuable
- Cross-check on Google for search volume/CPC
- Roll it into a database/directory solution
- Sell it for a one-time price
It’s insanely simple to build and launch such products.
I launched a product called “LTD Ideas” to help you get product ideas like this.
It’s a centralized resource of product ideas you can build and sell for a one-time price.
What I call the “RaaP Model”.
The “Research as a Product (RaaP)” business model is much bigger than I thought.
A lot of successful directory and database sites churning $$$$.
Some great examples in this model are:

I get the debate between SaaS & RaaP. SaaS is a great business model. I love it. I would certainly one day start a SaaS.
A stable recurring income is nice to have, but it comes with churn and other factors.
With RaaP, you sell one time, get the lifetime value of a customer, let’s suppose of about 4-6 months in one go.
You have a life-long customer to deal with no churn. Ofcourse refunds would be there.
But if you have built a really nice product, no one would want a refund. So if you have built a really nice valuable product in RaaP, expect a less refund rate and good chunk of revenue.
Now yes, for stable income, you would certainly need a stream of marketing channel where you get sales consistently.
I talked about this as “Calm Business Model“.
Where I would love to get sales consistently, instead of banging my head on social media.
For now, I love the term “RaaP” and would launch products under this umbrella.
What about you?
